What you put in will show out
Did you know that your diet can affect your skin? Of course you do! We’ve heard time and time again how certain foods can either bring out the best in our skin or display the worse. We love our guilty pleasure foods but too much off a good thing has its consequences. Good eating habits and good skincare go hand in hand. Did you know that your skin ages if you’re not consuming enough vitamins and minerals in your diet? Yes, it’s a fact. Your skin can appear dull and lifeless. Who has time for that when we’re trying to #glowoff! And don’t get me started on water! Water is the “HOLY GRAIL” to our skin! Shout out to all my every day, all day water slayers.
Today I’ll discuss foods that are beneficial to our skin. As we all know foods (fruits and veggies) that are rich in color does wonders for our complexion.
Carrots, turmeric, sweet potatoes, oranges, and peppers, (orange, yellow) to name a few are rich in Vitamin C. The antioxidants alone in Vitamin C help to brighten dark marks and help with hyperpigmentation issues.
Cherries, raspberries, pomegranates, beets, cranberries and tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C and as well as Vitamin A. Vitamin A has been known to help prevent breakouts and also helps to keep your skin hydrated and have less of an oily appearance.
Leafy greens such as spinach, kale, mustard and collard greens help detox the body and letting go of toxins is wonders for our skin. Leafy greens are also packed with Vitamin K which is good for Rosacea sufferers, blood clotting, and those of you that tend to suffer with dark under eye circles.
Blueberries, grapes, purple cabbage, eggplants, and blackberries are a few of the most powerful antioxidants out there on the market. Purple fruits and veggies help to prevent the breakdown of collagen which we lose over time. No matter how much we fight it, we produce less collagen as we age and a lack of collagen leads to wrinkles. But we can help slow the aging process by making good food choices.
I know it’s easier said than done but let’s try to scale back on greasy fatty foods which can show out on the skin. Excessive fried food consumption can lead to excess oil and a puffy face. Let’s be honest we all know what we should and shouldn’t eat but sometimes we’re eating in the moment and heck it’s tasty. I’m guilty myself of not consuming the proper nutrients from time to time. But what I’m a big advocate of is water. Water is heaven to our skin! Anyone who knows me personally knows I love, love, love water. And my skin appreciates me for it. With the holidays approaching I know this blog is in one ear and out the other LOL. I understand, trust me I do. I’m excited to eat some good Thanksgiving food myself. Try to keep in mind what you put in your body shows outside your body as well. I want to see your skin #glowoff! #NOILYOURSKINWORTH ….
